make money cafepress
When someone buys something off of your CafePress shop, who gets the money?

When someone buys something off of your CafePress shop, who gets the money? Do I make all of the money (if I make any) or do I make some of the money? Please help! :-O I really need to know.

CafePress allows you to create a shop and sell tshirts, mugs, mousepads, bumperstickers, and lots of other stuff. For each item there is a base amount.

So CafePress is saying (for example) a base amount of $11 for a particular style of tshirt. For that they will run the website, do some advertising of the site, take the orders on credit cards, print the shirt, ship the shirt, and handle any customer complaints.

You come up with something to go on the items. Some design for this shirt such as art, or funny text, or witty comment. $11 dollars of the price is CafePress cut to do all the stuff they do. If you charge $12 for it in your shop then $1 of each shirt is yours. If you charge $15 then $4 is yours.

No one loses out. You cant charge less than base price and the base price of each item guarantees CP that it will make what it needs on each item sold. They dont print any shirt until someone orders one and pays for it. The markup above base price is yours. Whatever you feel you can get for it. If you charge $100 then CP doesnt care because they wont have to do most of the work (take the order, print, ship, customer complaints) on a shirt that never sells.
